Daily News Gives Tax Reform One More Boost

Today's Daily News offered two great pieces for tax reform.  A feature of the potential 2007 mayoral candidates and their positions on tax reform, and a fantastic editorial blasting the myths spread about tax reform by the opponents of progress.  The editorial destroys the myths that tax reform is a bundh of voodoo economics, that tax reform benefits only suburbanites, and that tax reform will lead to dire consequences for the city.  The editorial ends with the dead-on statement, "Ultimately, this battle is not about tax reform, but about who has power. The mayor wants his agenda and doesn't want to get pushed around by City Council. The service cuts scenario is one of the muscles he's flexing to show us who's boss.  We're counting on Council to flex its muscle on Monday, and approve tax reform."  (Full editorial

The Daily News also offered a breakdown of various potential 2007 mayoral candidtates and their stance on the tax reform proposals before us.  (Full feature)
