Philadelphia Forward
worked to ensure that candidates had the opportunity to communicate with, and hear from, our growing constituency for change to engage them in the debate about not only who will lead our city, but also how our city will be led.
Candidates attended
Tax Reform Meetups
to meet with members of the constituency for change; and candidates responded to the
R.E.F.O.R.M. Agenda
crafted by neighbors across Philadelphia. Here, we asked candidates to face the truth and to tell us how they would avoid the consequences.
The truth is that the cost of living and working in Philadelphia is high and many firms and families find that the benefits offered by being in Philadelphia cannot compensate for those high costs. As a consequence, the City of Philadelphia is still losing population and lagging in economic growth. Philadelphia Forward asked each candidate to review our Truth or Consequences statement and then record a video response to address how issues like tax reform, ethics reform, and budgetary reform - or any other policies - can help reduce the cost of living and doing business in Philadelphia AND improve the quality of life and the quality of the marketplace.
